2nd Annual COMMUNITY WELLNESS DAY – May 7th, 2011
Thanks so much to everyone – sponsors, donors, participants, volunteers, and attendees for making this year’s event such a HUGE success! By supporting Community Wellness Day, you have helped to ensure the health and prosperity of the individuals, families, and community of Ithaca and our neighbors.
With more than 500 in attendance at the event, we also were able to raise more than $4000 to benefit Family Reading Partnership and Village at Ithaca respectively.
We’ll be updating this page over the next few weeks to bring you more important health information and to provide greater access to the myriad of vital services provided by Community Wellness Day participants!
Community Wellness Day is a national event focusing on educating the members of our community on information which is critical to our total health and wellness. There is an array of information on health, safety, environmental and financial wellness, and programs available for all ages. Admission to the event is FREE. For the kids there’s face painting, bouncy gyms, Xbox Kinect contests, and musical theatre. For us grown ups there’s Tai Chi & yoga classes, live music, raffles, and lots more. And of course FREE healthy, fresh food for everyone.
If you would like to find out how to participate, volunteer, or lend your support to this terrific event, please contact Dr. Ammitai Worob and his team at 256-9355, or email them at info@seachangeithaca.com
Here’s what some of our participants had to say about the event:
“How fortunate we are to live in a community in which people join forces across sectors to make amazing things happen. Understanding the power of a team and a dream is the foundation upon which Family Reading Partnership has been built, and it is in that spirit that Community Wellness Day was launched with tremendous success.”
- Brigid Hubberman, Executive Director of Family Reading Partnership
“The first event like this is always a bit of an experiment, but Saturday’s success exceeded my expectations. There’s clearly interest in our community for a wellness event of this nature. What struck me was the amount of positive energy in that room. I’ve lived in Ithaca for 16 years and this is the best health fair I can remember!”
- Bob Riter, Executive Director of Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes
